In a heart-wrenching scene deep within a remote southwestern forest reserve, wildlife conservationists discovered a fully grown wild elephant suffering from a severe abdominal wound – the tragic result of a poison-laced trap set by ruthless poachers.
The elephant, estimated to be around 25 years old, had wandered the forest for days, bearing a massive, festering abscess that caused excruciating pain and visibly deteriorated his health. According to experts, the wound was likely inflicted by a poison-tipped dart or arrow – a cruel method commonly used by poachers to quickly immobilize elephants in order to harvest their tusks for illegal trade.
When the elephant was finally found, he was on the verge of collapse – emaciated, severely dehydrated, and barely able to stand. A rapid-response rescue team was dispatched immediately.
