The Detroit Lions beat the Bears 52-21 in the home opener at Ford Field in Detroit in Week 2 of the 2025 NFL season.
The Lions (1-1) are coming off a disappointing 27-13 loss to the Green Bay Packers in their 2025 season opener on Sunday, Sept. 7, and put together a much more effective offensive performance after laying an egg in Week 1.

The Bears are now 0-2.
Lions tight end Shane Zylstra left the game in the first quarter with an ankle injury, defensive end Marcus Davenport left in the third quarter and was questionable to return with a shoulder injury and safety Brian Branch (cramp) exited in the fourth quarter. But overall, it seems the Lions got out of this game healthy.

Jared Goff, Amon-Ra St. Brown final stats
It was a successful “get right” game for the Lions offense.

Quarterback Jared Goff, who had a perfect 158.3 passer rating at one point in the third quarter, finished 23-of-28 for 334 yards and five touchdowns, with 11.9 yards per attempt. His passer rating is a not-quite-perfect 156.0, but still — a pretty impeccable game from Goff.
The Lions also put 177 yards rushing on the scoresheet, with running back Jahmyr Gibbs leading the way (94 yards) and David Montgomery following behind (57 yards).
But maybe the most impressive numbers come from veteran receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown: nine catches, 115 yards and three touchdowns (and one frightening touchdown celebration).
4Q, 6:04: Kyle Allen in the game
The Lions are sitting their starters with a 31-point lead, with backup quarterback Kyle Allen now in the game for Detroit.
4Q, 6:52: Brian Branch hurt
Lions safety Brian Branch fell to the ground in the middle of the fourth quarter with an apparent injury to his lower body. He is walking off the field slowly with the help of trainers, and the extent of his injury is not known.
4Q, 7:58: Lions 52, Bears 21, Lions hang a 50-spot
A 26-yard run from running back Jahmyr Gibbs once again put the Lions in the red zone. Gibbs has 94 yards on 12 carries so far in the game.
Three straight rushes from running back David Montgomery essentially went nowhere, but the Lions went for it on 4th-and-goal, with quarterback Jared Goff finding receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown for his third receiving touchdown of the game.
The 52 points they’ve scored today matches their two highest-scoring performances from 2024, a 52-14 win over Tennessee in Week 8 and a 52-6 win over Jacksonville in Week 11.
4Q, 11:45: Lions 45, Bears 21, D’Andre swift scores touchdown for Chicago
The Bears take advantage of new life following the penalty on Branch, finishing the drive with a three-yard touchdown run from D’Andre Swift.

A not-so-nice chant directed at Bears coach Ben Johnson broke out in the crowd following the touchdown.
The Bears attempted an onside kick following the score, but it was recovered by Lions receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown. Lions still up big and start the drive on the Bears’ 43-yard line following an illegal touching penalty from Chicago.
4Q, 12:20: Lions sack Caleb Williams twice
The Lions defense has turned up the pressure. Brian Branch got a sack on Bears quarterback Caleb Williams early in the drive, and then edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson got his first sack of the season three plays later.
More pressure on Williams forced an interception into the hands of Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold, but the play was called back on a roughing the passer penalty on Branch.
4Q, 14:56: Lions 45, Bears 14, St. Brown with second TD
On the first play of the fourth quarter, Lions quarterback Jared Goff found receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown with an 8-yard touchdown to give the Lions another score.
