For the Roberts family of Ralph, AL, the journey has been one of unimaginable challenges, fierce determination, and overwhelming love. Their 14-year-old son, Will Roberts, has been battling bone cancer for months, and his fight has tested not just his strength but that of his entire family. Will’s journey has taken them from one side of the country to the other, through surgeries, doctor’s appointments, and countless sleepless nights.

A few weeks ago, Will underwent the heartbreaking procedure of having his left leg amputated below the knee. The amputation, though necessary to fight the spread of the cancer, was a devastating moment for a young boy who had spent so much of his life dreaming of the future. But Will, in typical fashion, faced this new challenge with courage, showing the world that he wasn’t just fighting for his life but fighting to hold on to his joy, his spirit, and his will to live.
But the battle didn’t end with the amputation. In fact, it became even more complicated. Just weeks after the surgery, Will’s cancer returned, this time spreading to his pelvic area. This devastating news brought even more uncertainty, as the family was forced to confront the reality that the battle wasn’t over yet. Will, his parents Jason and Brittney, and the entire Roberts family had to face this new level of hardship with strength and resilience.
The Exhausting Journey

On Tuesday night, as they tried to travel from New York to Houston for vital doctor’s appointments at MD Anderson, the Roberts family experienced exhaustion on an unimaginable level. They had to endure an uncomfortable night at the Charlotte airport, trying to rest in between travel delays and the stress of Will’s condition. No one should have to endure such a long journey under such difficult circumstances, but for the Roberts family, this was just one more step in their fight against cancer.
Upon arriving in Houston on Wednesday morning, the family dove straight into Will’s appointments. The day was filled with tests, consultations, and medical discussions as doctors at MD Anderson worked to assess the extent of the cancer’s return and to create a new plan of attack. Will’s cancer had spread, and the uncertainty of the next steps was overwhelming for all involved.
Despite the crushing physical and emotional toll of these appointments, Will and his parents remained hopeful. As they settled into their hotel room after a long day of appointments, Brittney shared a heartfelt message on social media. The exhaustion was palpable in her words, but so was her unwavering faith.

“We are still patiently awaiting his CT scan to be done and we can leave. Going on 36 hours with no sleep, no showers, and wearing the same clothes,” Brittney wrote. “I dozed off while Will was getting his MRI and had to be shaken to awaken. This is a whole new level of exhaustion. Mentally and Physically. We got all appointments in and tomorrow’s will be Zoom and telephone appointments.”
Even in the face of such exhaustion and uncertainty, Brittney found comfort in the prayers and support of their community. “Thank you so much for all the prayers. When I thought the sky was falling, God had us the whole time,” she said, a reminder of the power of faith in times of overwhelming difficulty.
The Battle Continues
The following days were filled with more medical appointments, consultations, and difficult decisions about how to treat the cancer that had spread through Will’s body. His parents were exhausted, both physically and mentally, but they pressed on, knowing that each step brought them closer to finding a treatment that could help Will fight this terrible disease.

In the days to come, doctors would need to decide how best to approach the cancer on the other side of Will’s body. The uncertainty of the future was heavy on the Roberts family’s hearts, but they knew that they had to keep moving forward, no matter how difficult the road ahead seemed.
The Strength of Family
Through all of this, the Roberts family has shown what it means to be there for each other — to fight together, even when it feels like the odds are too great. Jason and Brittney have been unwavering in their support of Will, doing everything they can to provide comfort, love, and hope to their son. Every decision they make is motivated by one thing: their desire to give Will the best possible chance at recovery and to ensure that he knows he is loved, supported, and never alone.
For Will, the love and strength of his family have been an anchor. Despite the pain, despite the uncertainty, Will has never lost his spirit. Through all the treatments, the tests, and the long hours in the hospital, he continues to be a light to those around him. His courage and resilience in the face of such adversity inspire everyone who meets him.
Prayers and Support
The Roberts family has been overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support from their community and beyond. In the midst of all the medical procedures and difficult decisions, the Roberts family has found comfort in knowing that they are not facing this battle alone. The messages of prayer, support, and encouragement have carried them through some of their darkest moments, reminding them that they are part of something larger than themselves.

“We’re in this together,” Brittney wrote in her message, reflecting the deep sense of unity and support that has sustained her family through this difficult time. The prayers and well-wishes from friends, family, and strangers alike have provided them with the strength to face each new day.
The Road Ahead
As the Roberts family continues their journey, more stressful news could come their way. Will’s cancer may present even more challenges, and the road ahead will likely be filled with difficult decisions. But one thing is certain — they will not give up. They will continue to fight for Will, for his health, and for his future. And they will do it with the same strength, love, and faith that has carried them this far.
We ask that you keep the Roberts family in your thoughts and prayers. Let us surround them with love, support, and hope as they continue on this difficult journey. Let’s pray for Will’s healing, for strength for his parents, and for peace in the midst of uncertainty.
