Two years.
It’s been two long years since that day — November 7th — the day the world stood still, the day everything changed forever. It began like any other morning, but by sunset, nothing would ever be the same again. That was the day a mother heard the words no parent should ever have to hear: “There’s nothing we can do.”
In that moment, time shattered. The sound of machines, the sterile white walls, the doctor’s trembling voice — all faded into a blur. All that remained was the tiny rise and fall of a fragile chest, struggling for air one last time. She held her baby close, whispered love through her tears, and watched as life slowly slipped away in her arms. No screams. No fight. Just peace — quiet, heartbreaking peace.
Days turned into weeks, and the house that once echoed with laughter fell silent. Every corner carried a memory. The crib, the favorite blanket, the tiny shoes by the door — all remained untouched, as if waiting for a miracle that would never come. People said time heals. But time, she realized, doesn’t heal; it only teaches you how to breathe again, one slow, broken breath at a time.
And then came the moment that changed everything — again.
A few weeks later, she met a healer, a gentle soul who told her something she didn’t expect to hear:
“Your little one is still here. They haven’t gone yet — they’re waiting for you to let them go.”
It was both comforting and painful. Could it be true? Was her baby’s spirit still near, holding on just as she was? Together, they performed a quiet ceremony — soft music, candlelight, whispered prayers. And in that stillness, something shifted.

The healer spoke softly: “With your permission, we’ll help them find peace.”
She nodded, unable to speak, tears streaming down her face.
Then, in the air — fragile but clear — came a sound she would never forget:
“My mummy’s a superhero… my mummy’s a superhero.”
It was the voice of her child — the same innocent tone, the same sweetness. The words repeated, soft at first, then fading like a lullaby carried by the wind. It was the goodbye she never got to say — and the message she needed to hear most.
Since that day, she’s never been the same — but in a different way. She learned that love doesn’t end when a heartbeat stops. It transforms. It lingers. It speaks in dreams, in songs, in sudden moments of stillness when the world feels a little too quiet. Her baby is gone, but their love is everywhere — in the sunrise that breaks after every storm, in the laughter of other children, in the strength she finds when she thought she had none left.
Every year, when November 7th comes, she lights a candle and whispers, “I’m still trying to be your superhero.”
And maybe, just maybe, somewhere beyond this world, a small voice still answers —
“You always were, mummy. You always were.” 🕊️💫
