The break in his arm had been the first sign, but the growing tumor was what had caused the injury to become more severe.
Doctors diagnosed Atlas with spindle cell sarcoma, a rare and aggressive cancer that primarily affects children. His family was heartbroken, but they rallied together with an unshakable determination to fight for their son’s life.
Atlas began treatment immediately, starting in October 2022, when he was just 1 year old. The road ahead was going to be long, filled with chemotherapy, surgeries, and uncertainty, but through it all, Atlas’s spirit remained unbroken.
In November 2022, a heartbreaking decision had to be made: to amputate Atlas’s left arm below the elbow to stop the spread of the cancer. Though it was an incredibly difficult and painful choice, his parents knew it was the only way to give their son the best chance at survival.
Atlas’s strength throughout the entire process was nothing short of incredible. He fought through the pain and discomfort, always with a smile on his face, and always holding on to the joy he had for life.

The surgery was successful, and Atlas once again proved his resilience by bouncing back and starting a proton radiation therapy protocol that lasted seven weeks. However, despite all the treatments, the cancer seemed relentless. The radiation caused severe side effects, leaving Atlas feeling exhausted and weakened. His family remained by his side, offering comfort and love, but the cancer was proving harder to defeat than anyone had hoped.
The journey didn’t stop there. Atlas’s battle with cancer continued as it returned once again, this time near his spine. In May 2024, he underwent proton radiation therapy once more. But even with the best treatments available, the cancer spread to four other locations near his heart. Atlas fought through each new diagnosis, each setback, with a bravery that was beyond his years. His family, though devastated by each new blow, continued to be by his side, offering him love, support, and hope.
Through all the surgeries, treatments, and the pain, Atlas remained the brave little boy his family had always known. His smile was a beacon of hope, even in the darkest times.
