LAKERS STAR LUKA DONČIĆ BUILDS “LA HOPE HAVEN” — A $6 MILLION SANCTUARY FOR ABANDONED KIDS & FAMILIES

It started with a quiet visit Luka Dončić made last year — no cameras, no reporters — just him sitting on the sidewalk talking to two homeless kids outside a downtown shelter. Their stories stayed with him. Their fear. Their hunger. Their hope. And Luka, moved in a way he rarely shows publicly, made a promise: “I’m going to do something bigger than basketball.”
Today, that promise has become LA Hope Haven, a $6 million, six-acre sanctuary built to give abandoned and displaced children a second chance at life.
Inside the facility, kids will receive tutoring, therapy, meals, safe beds, sports programs, and round-the-clock care. There are reading gardens, art rooms, a mini-court Luka designed himself, and community spaces where families can rebuild together.

“It’s more than a shelter,” Luka said during the announcement. “It’s a home. A place where forgotten kids feel seen again. Where love isn’t optional — it’s the foundation.”
Lakers teammates praised the move, calling it “one of the most meaningful things any athlete has done for Los Angeles in years.” Even LeBron reportedly told staff: “This is legacy. This is how you change lives.”
With LA Hope Haven, Luka Dončić isn’t just inspiring the NBA — he’s inspiring America to stand up for the children who cannot speak for themselves.
