Five-year-old Brynlee Benedict should be spending her days twirling in pink dresses, playing with Barbies, and laughing so loudly that everyone around her can’t help but smile. And in many ways, she still does — because Brynlee refuses to let cancer steal the joy that comes so naturally to her.
Behind that bright smile, however, she’s battling medulloblastoma, a malignant brain tumor that has transformed her childhood into a cycle of hospital rooms, IV poles, and chemotherapy schedules.
She has already endured more than most adults ever will:
• A grueling brain surgery
• Radiation that left her exhausted and fragile
• Months of aggressive treatment
And now, she’s preparing for her fifth round of chemotherapy.
