For the past week, Hudson just hasn’t been himself. Truthfully, he hasn’t really been himself since November 28th. We’ve also been closely watching the incision from his newest chest port, and we haven’t loved how it looks. Given his decline from baseline and concerns that the port incision could be infected, we felt it was best to bring him to the ER.

Hudson was stable enough this morning that I could go to work, while Daddy and nurse Taylor A. got him settled at the ER. As always, it was a long process.
The ER team did a very thorough workup, and due to some concerning findings, along with Hudson’s recent 21 day stay for sepsis, they felt it was safest to admit him. We are heading back to the PICU, where we’ll be working closely with Infectious Disease to determine whether this is a new infection or an ongoing one. His platelet levels are trending downward, and his albumin is also low, which is often his pattern when something is brewing.
We also learned that the J-tube portion of Hudson’s G/J tube is kinked, causing a partial intestinal obstruction. He will need a new G/J tube placed during this admission.
I am incredibly thankful for nurse Taylor and Hudsons Daddy, who was able to advocate for Hudson and help get the ball rolling when I couldn’t be there. While another admission is far from ideal, I know something isn’t right, and I’d rather seek answers and a fix rather than being sent home.
Please pray with us that this is a short admission, with a quick and full recovery, and join me in praying for complete protection over Hudson and Mommy from all the extra germs floating around right now.
