I discovered a strange lizard with two different heads, where one is a vegetarian and the other is a carbivore.
“Pancho eats crickets and Lefty is a vegetarian. He only eats vegetables,” says owner Todd Ray.
Todd Ray not only won a two-headed bearded dragon, he has two. His other bearded dragon is called Jeckyl and Hyde.
“They’re about five months old,” Ray says. “They were born in San Diego and I heard about them, contacted their owner and they have been mine for about two months.”
Jeckyl and Hyde have very different eating habits than Pancho and Lefty.
“Jeckyl does the eating and Hyde only drinks water,” Ray said. “I think Hyde ate crickets once. That’s all.”
“Hyde is actually a parasitic twin that comes out of Jeckyl’s side and his movement is restricted from the chest up.”
“I had to acclimate them to the Freakshow,” he says. “Hyde had sand in his eye from being dragged by Jeckyl. Bearded dragons belong in the arena, but this is unusual, so the previous owner was just doing what he knew when dealing with single-headed reptiles.”
Fortunately, Hyde’s eye is responding well to treatment.
Todd Ray shows off his pair of six-legged, two-headed bearded dragons at the Venice Beach Freakshow in Los Angeles.
Although bearded dragons can be put in the same cage, Ray is not going to introduce Pancho and Lefty to Jeckyl and Hyde.
“I do not want to do that. “Jeckyl and Hyde are smaller and only two alike.”
