In the heart of Ljubljana, Slovenia, among bustling streets and imposing buildings, there is a small but dedicated group of volunteers led by Tanja Vidergar. Their mission: rescue, treat and rehome abandoned and neglected stray dogs. Among the countless souls they encountered, one stood out: a small, injured puppy abandoned to its fate on the unforgiving streets.
Humanity, it seemed, had turned its back on him a long time ago. Hit by a car and left motionless on the side of the road, she was then cruelly dumped next to a dumpster and left alone to endure the elements. But despite the cruelty she faced, she endured and waited patiently for someone to see the value in her.
Tanja and her team knew they couldn’t undo the damage done to this innocent creature, but they were determined to give her a chance at a better life. With broken legs and a broken spine, the odds were against her, but her spirit remained intact. With a piercing blue eye that seemed to reflect her resilience, she was affectionately called Azul.
Without hesitation, they took Blue to the vet, where his journey to recovery began. Every day she brought new challenges and increasing expenses, but her volunteers refused to give up on her. Although she still couldn’t walk alone, she found solace in the company of her new friends, playing and frolicking without a care in the world.
