When it comes to animals possessing the fastest speed in the world, most people’s minds will probably “bounce” to the cheetah.

The cheetah has a similar physique and galloping pattern to the greyhound, which is known as the speed king of dogs.

With a recorded top speed of 103 km/h, cheetahs easily overtake other agile animals, such as racehorses, to claim the title of fastest land animal in the world. Many estimates also suggest that their top speed is 113 km / h.

The cheetah is also equipped with a special black streak, running from the eye to the corner of the mouth, which acts as a mechanism to help its eyes prevent glare when hunting during the day.

Possessing a natural ability for speed, it is not surprising that the cheetah is ranked by scientists as one of the most feared predators on the planet.

According to scientists, the secret to the cheetah’s extremely fast running lies in the fact that this animal can adjust the frequency of steps to speed, similar to the “shifting” mechanism of a motorcycle and car. Along with that, the cheetah has a slim but muscular body with long legs, a flexible spine, a deep chest, special pads on the feet and a long tail for balance. . It is also the only leopard that cannot retract its claws, an adaptation to help maintain traction like the soccer cleats.

It is thanks to his extraordinary body and acumen that make hunting trips of cheetahs more attractive than ever, like in the clip below.

Hardus Lubbe and his group of friends were extremely lucky to witness firsthand the hunting of cheetahs right next to their car during a visit to Kruger National Park, South Africa.

That day, the group of tourists, while moving to the Gasanftombi junction, close to the Crocodile Bridge, accidentally encountered a huge herd of antelope crossing the road. It is estimated that there must be more than 50 antelopes huddled together. At a distance of 150 m from the antelope herd, a cheetah was attentively observing the herd of herbivores. Although the white herons tried to warn, the antelopes still did not sense the danger at all.

Finally, the extremely attractive chase happened. A poor antelope collapsed right next to a BMW of tourists. In the presence of many people, the leopard was initially timid. However, when the hunger outweighed the feeling of “failure of honor”, the leopard grabbed the antelope and carried it away.
