A breathtaking rescue unfolded on the Shubenacadie River in Nova Scotia as Emmett Blois, an adventurous river rafter, and his friends saved a distressed bald eagle from a life-threatening situation.
While navigating the river’s current, Blois and his team witnessed an unusual sight—a group of bald eagles scattering due to an oncoming tidal bore.

One eagle, however, was not so fortunate. Hit by a rogue wave, she found herself trapped in the sandy river bed, unable to escape the water’s grasp.
Blois and his crew quickly maneuvered their raft to the struggling bird, her flapping wings signaling her desperate need for help.
They managed to extract her from the hazardous situation. They observed that she had sustained a leg injury, leading them to make an executive decision to rush her to the Hope for Wildlife Rescue center.
The tense rescue left an indelible impression on Blois, who recalled the eagle’s heart pounding ferociously against his hand.
Yet, as he held her, the frantic beating gradually subsided until it reached a steady rhythm within 15 minutes.
The eagle’s acceptance of their help and her calming down was a moment Blois found surprising yet deeply moving.
His admiration for the majestic bird only grew during the hour-long journey back to shore, particularly entranced by the eagle’s gorgeous eyes.
Upon reaching the Hope for Wildlife Rescue, the caregivers identified ligament damage in the eagle’s leg. They swiftly embarked on a treatment and rehabilitation plan, and once she had fully recovered, Blois was given the heartwarming opportunity to reintroduce her to the wild.
