Taylor Decker says he’s dealing with an undisclosed injury and “hopefully” he’ll play this week.
The Detroit Lions received a mixed bag of news on the injury front as they began preparations for their upcoming matchup against the Chicago Bears. Cornerback Terrion Arnold was back on the field Wednesday after missing the second half of last week’s game against the Green Bay Packers with a groin injury. His return provided a boost to the secondary, but the Lions were without two key starters during the open portion of practice: left tackle Taylor Decker and linebacker Jack Campbell.

Arnold, a promising rookie, participated in individual drills and appeared to move comfortably. He revealed that he first felt discomfort in his groin during the second series of the Packers game. Despite finishing the first half, he sat out the entire second half as a precaution. After the game, Arnold noted that the injury felt minor, and head coach Dan Campbell hinted earlier this week that Arnold has a strong chance of playing when the Lions host the Bears at Ford Field in their home opener.

Meanwhile, Decker’s absence raised concerns. He played all 67 offensive snaps in the Lions’ 27-13 loss to the Packers but did not practice Wednesday because of a shoulder injury. Decker expressed optimism about suiting up on Sunday, emphasizing that he intends to do everything possible to be ready. Losing Decker would be a significant blow to the offensive line, which already struggled to protect quarterback Jared Goff in Green Bay.

Linebacker Jack Campbell also missed practice with an ankle injury after logging all 48 defensive snaps against the Packers. Campbell’s availability will be crucial for a Lions defense that must contain the Bears’ mobile quarterback and dynamic rushing attack. On a positive note, running back Sione Vaki (hamstring) and linebacker Trevor Nowaske (elbow) both returned to practice after missing the Packers game.
As the Lions look to rebound from last week’s loss, their injury situation will be closely monitored. The health of Decker and Campbell could have a major impact on their chances in this divisional showdown. Arnold’s return is encouraging, but the Lions need all hands on deck to secure their first win at home.
