A FAMILY IN FEAR: 9-YEAR-OLD JOSÉ FACES A SUDDEN, HEARTBREAKING BATTLE WITH LEUKEMIA .l

A Rio Grande Valley family is living through every parent’s worst nightmare as their 9-year-old son, José, fights for his life just days after a devastating leukemia diagnosis. On October 29th, their world changed in an instant — and the fear, uncertainty, and pain have only grown since.

José has been unable to leave the hospital since the moment he arrived. His fever refuses to break, preventing doctors from releasing him even for a moment. In just a matter of days, the once energetic little boy has lost eleven pounds. Bruises now cover his small body — the result of relentless treatments, injections, and the pressure caused by persistent vomiting.

The strain is visible even in his face. The blood vessels in his right eye have burst, a painful reminder of the battle he never asked to fight. He is too weak to walk to the restroom. And in quiet moments, he cries — not from fear of the hospital, but because he knows his hair will fall out soon.

Still, he asks one question over and over: “Can I go home?”
For now, heartbreakingly, the answer is no.

Doctors have already begun chemotherapy, with an intensive eight-month treatment plan ahead. If José’s body struggles to keep up, the next step will be a bone marrow transplant — hopefully from a compatible sibling.

His family describes him as a good kid, a gentle soul who cannot understand why this is happening to him. They sit by his bedside day and night, doing everything they can to reassure him, comfort him, and remind him that none of this is his fault.

Tonight, the family is asking for one thing: prayers.
Prayers for strength.
Prayers for healing.
Prayers for José.
