Andy Reid’s players will be desperate to get back to the Super Bowl after losing to the Philadelphia Eagles in the showpiece back in February.

They have been hard at work in practice, so fans were shocked to see Mahomes showing off his punting rather than his passing skills.

In a video posted to social media by the Chiefs, their main man expertly fires the ball downfield with pinpoint accuracy.

He was hilariously dubbed “Puntrick Mahomes” by the team’s official account.

And fans could not believe Mahomes has a solid punt in his armoury, with one saying: “There is nothing he cannot accomplish.”

A second wrote: “Bout a four second hang time, kicked it from roughly the 20 to the opposite roughly 25. Not bad.”

Another added: “Let him be both the punter and QB.”

A third worried: “I don’t need my QB stubbing his toe in practice.”

But fans should not be surprised by Mahomes’ talents as special teams coordinator Dave Toub previously revealed he could punt in the NFL.

Toub said in 2023: “Believe it or not, No.15 [Mahomes] is our backup punter

“He could do it. He shows me all the time.

“You know, he’s out there going on Saturdays, hitting punts.

“He can do it all that guy. It is unbelievable.”

It is unlikely that Mahomes will ever kick in a match, however, as Matt Araiza and Eddie Czaplicki are the designated punters.

Mahomes reportedly last punted during a game while at Whitehouse High School in Texas.

He is said to have done so 29 times with a 37.8 yard average.

Mahomes is using Super Bowl heartbreak as motivation, saying at the training camp: “It kind of helps you out on some of those extra workouts that you don’t want to do.

“It keeps that in your mind.”

He added: “You always have to get better.

“That’s something that people lose track of when you have success.

“We didn’t win that last game, but we had a lot of success last year.

“I think sometimes people want to be stagnant.

“They want to go out there and do it over again. We have to get better.”
