INSPIRING MOVE: Ravens Star Mark Andrews Invests Over $6 Million to Create “Freedom Ranch” — A 150-Acre California Sanctuary Rescuing Abandoned and Abused Horses, Offering Rehabilitation, Training, and Round-the-Clock Care, While Also Opening Its Gates to Kids in Need of Hope and Guidance. Andrews Dreams of Making Freedom Ranch a National Model, Urging Fellow Athletes to Step Up in the Fight for Animal Welfare

Mark Andrews and the Journey of Building Freedom Ranch – A Second Home for Rescued Horses

Mark Andrews, star tight end of the Baltimore Ravens, has officially unveiled his passion project: Freedom Ranch — a 150-acre sanctuary in California valued at over $6 million. More than just a safe haven, it stands as a symbol of compassion, where abandoned and abused horses are given the chance to start over.

“Freedom Ranch isn’t just a rescue facility,” Andrews shared. “We provide rehabilitation, retraining, 24/7 veterinary care, and above all, love and safety. We also create a space where kids can connect, learn, and grow alongside these horses. It’s an opportunity for them to understand empathy and responsibility.”

At Freedom Ranch, every horse undergoes a holistic recovery journey: healing physical injuries, overcoming trauma, and retraining to adapt to a new environment. Some horses, once fully rehabilitated, even take part in community education programs, becoming “special teachers” for children and young people.

According to Andrews, the project stems not only from his love for animals but also from his belief that sports and social responsibility must go hand in hand. He hopes Freedom Ranch will serve as a national model, encouraging other athletes and public figures to use their influence to take meaningful action for animal welfare.

With this vision, Freedom Ranch is more than a sanctuary — it is a place of hope, healing, and new beginnings — for horses, for children, and for the community at large.
