The JF-17 manufacturer recently announced that it could produce a fighter in just 15 days.
A report released by China Aviation News said on July 16: “The production line of a JF-17 fighter jet has shortened the down time to just 15 days.”
The JF-17 fighter jet nicknamed the “Thin God” was developed by China’s Chengdu Aircraft Industry Group and Pakistan’s Pakistan Aviation Complex (PAC).
The PAC announced in January 2020, that it had built eight two-seat JF-17s in five months. The number of jets produced at Chengdu facilities in China could be higher. The total number of JF-17s produced this year has not been announced.
The JF-17 was developed by China’s Chengdu Aircraft Industry Group and Pakistan’s Pakistan’s Pakistan Airlines Complex.
According to Defense World, the JF-17 Block III attracts interest from potential buyers mainly due to its low cost, the active electronic scanning phase (AESA) radar.
The aircraft is also equipped with the latest guidance system and advanced electronic warfare, similar to those installed on much more expensive fighters such as the F-16 Fighting Falcon or JAS 39 Gripen.
The JF-17 is that the price is expected to be half lower than the F-16 Block 70/72 Viper, the latest version of the U.S.- manufactured light fighter.
In December last year, the JF-17 Block III jet flew into the sky for the first time.
Pakistan has built 100 JF-17 fighter jets, with 62 other for the JF-17 Block 3, which was ordered by 2024.
