The rain poured endlessly all day…
its rhythm on the ground sounded like a lonely song.
Beneath an old iron bench,
a little orange stray cat curled up tightly —
its fur soaked, its body trembling in the cold.
It had nowhere to go,
nowhere to hide except for that tiny corner under the chair.
Then, a nearby security camera captured something remarkable —
a golden retriever walking through the rain with purpose.
In its mouth, it carried a piece of wet cardboard.
At first, no one knew what it planned to do.
But the dog gently approached the bench,

and placed the cardboard right in front of the cat —
as if to say, “Here, this might help keep you dry.”
Then it quietly lay down beside the shivering cat,
looking at it with eyes full of kindness —
as though whispering, “Don’t be afraid… I’m right here with you.”

The rain kept falling,
but under that little bench, warmth bloomed stronger than the cold.
Because love doesn’t need words —
sometimes, a kind heart is all it takes to make the world gentle again.
It reminds us that compassion knows no species —
even between a dog and a cat, empathy can bloom.
