While observing the unfamiliar guest in his abode, Kodiak exercised caution and refrained from rushing towards them. As he aged, the elderly dog began experiencing difficulties with memory retention, causing him to take extra time with certain tasks.
Fortunately, Kodiak’s sense of smell is still excellent, and the moment he caught the woman’s scent, he recognized her right away. It turned out to be Megan Hill, who had known Kodiak since she was in ninth grade and had returned home to visit her family. The usually cautious dog’s behavior immediately transformed as he eagerly greeted her by putting his head in her hand and joyfully wiggling his body.
Hill shared a clip of their get-together, which is available for viewing at this link:
According to Hill, her father sometimes forgets about her and her brother due to their busy schedules and living away from their parents. However, she recently had a heartwarming experience when her father recognized her after initially mistaking her for someone else.
Kodiak, a young pup of nine months old, was rescued by Hill’s family. Initially, the nervous pup was frightened of men but eventually warmed up to every member of the family except for Hill’s father, who took months to gain Kodiak’s trust.
Kodiak’s endearing and peculiar character was eventually uncovered as he grew more at ease with Hill’s family. They came to realize that he was the missing puzzle piece in their lives. According to Hill, Kodiak exudes nothing but pure bliss, and his amusing antics have brought countless laughs and unforgettable memories to their household throughout the 13 years of being with them.
Hill finds it hard to come to terms with her aging pet, but cherishes moments like this where she can still connect with Kodiak. Although it may take him a little while to recognize her, it’s evident that he still knows his favorite human by scent. Hill admits feeling a tinge of sadness when Kodiak doesn’t recognize her right away, but she knows those bittersweet greetings will remain etched in her memory forever.
