Glori Rushing, an 18-year-old farmer, treats her dog Blizzie and her four puppies like family. When Rita’s mother, Smore, refused to feed her, Blizzie stepped in and took care of the puppy. She even let Rita sleep with her own babies, who were born a few days earlier. This created a lovely relationship between the three-year-old dog and the four-week-old puppy.
Blizzie had a recent litter of puppies, and her enclosure had a fence that was about six feet long. However, she managed to climb over it and retrieve Rita, taking her back to her own pups. Gloria observed Blizzie’s natural tendency to care for Rita, so she decided to let them stay together. Impressed with Blizzie’s nurturing skills, Gloria reported that she had ample milk to nurse all the puppies. Although Gloria and her husband Nathaniel attempted to bottle-feed Rita, she showed a preference for Blizzie’s milk. Initially, they tried to reunite Rita with her biological mother, but when the latter continued to reject her, Blizzie became her adoptive mom.
Blizzie was tasked with assisting in the maintenance of the farm and caring for the goats. However, the observer has never witnessed Blizzie exhibiting such nurturing behavior before. Uncertain about the suitability of dog milk for goat consumption, the observer was feeding a young goat named Rita with a bottle every two hours. Unexpectedly, Rita sought comfort in Blizzie’s care instead. Despite her distinct size and physical features, Blizzie blended in well with the other puppies and they all got along fine. Her maternal instincts were remarkable as she seemed to treat Rita like one of her own offspring.
