Unwavering Devotion: A Loyal Stray Stays by an іпjᴜгed Pregnant Dog’s Side Near Busy Highway

We all know that dogs are known to be humans’ loyal companions, but this touching story shows that they also have each other’s backs. A German dog named Marley was presumably hit by a car in Muscoy, California, and her closest friend, Murphy, refused to leave her side. The two of them patiently waited for help for hours as cars rushed past, ignoring their plight. Eventually, a considerate driver stopped and contacted Dream Fetchers: Project Rescue, who came to their aid.

As per Faith Easdale, one of the rescue team members of a non-profit organization, they were informed that a dog named Marley was lying on the side of the road in extreme pain and discomfort. They rushed to the spot and found Marley breathing heavily and in great distress. They were not even sure if she would survive.

As Easdale and a colleague helped the wounded pooch get into the vehicle, Murphy kept watch. Once the larger dog was safely settled in the back seat, Murphy positioned himself behind Marley and rested his head on her stomach. According to Easdale, the injured pup was quite challenging to transport, but Murphy remained by her side throughout the ordeal.

While the rescuers hurriedly made their way to the hospital, Murphy never left Marley’s side, offering her comfort and support. Further examination through X-rays revealed that Marley had suffered multiple fractures. However, what came as a surprise was the discovery that Marley was carrying 11 puppies during her pregnancy.

For a few days, Murphy remained by Marley’s side until he felt that the expectant dog was out of danger. Easdale mentioned that even though Murphy could visit her in the hospital, his energy was too much for Marley who was still recovering. Eventually, Easdale helped Murphy find a permanent home.

In the meantime, Marley’s childbirth was not an easy feat, but the brave mother dog successfully gave birth to 11 robust puppies despite having casts on two of her legs. Despite her injuries, she lovingly cared for and nursed her pups.

After two years of veterinary appointments and care, Marley has fully recovered from her injuries. Her puppies are now grown up and have found their own homes. According to her adoptive family’s Facebook post, Marley is still as sweet and beautiful as the day they welcomed her home. She plays and runs around as if she never suffered a broken bone.
